you are beautiful

I’m still on my own personal journey of self love, as I’m sure many of you might be as well. It took a lot for me to realize that I’m beautiful just the way I am. As young girls growing up, we are bombarded by the media with this ideal of what beauty looks like. It creates an unattainable goal that we may not even realize gets ingrained into our subconscious. From celebrities to fashion to social media, everyone is trying to project a certain “perfect” image especially when it comes to health, nutrition, and fitness. I really want to speak out about this because I think it plays such a big role in creating a superficially skinny ideal for young girls that can really be harmful in the long run.

I consider myself a generally positive and optimistic person.

However, I also recognize that the world is not sunshine and rainbows all the time. There are certain issues, like how women are portrayed on Instagram, in magazines, and on television and how this can lead to massive insecurities and eating disorders in young girls, that I feel incredibly passionate about. Having been affected personally by such issues, I find it really important to take a stand and remind all the girls and women out there that you are beautiful just the way you are. 

Here are 4 activities I do when I’m feeling like my self-esteem is low:

1 / Take some time to detox from social media and television.

2 / Go outside and take a nice walk.

3 / Take some time to meditate.

4/ Be on your own for a little bit and remind yourself how beautiful you are.

I’ve found that inner peace and beauty is much more important that outwardly beauty. When you really start loving your body and yourself, you’ll start to radiate from the inside out. I hope this Valentine’s Day, we can share these thoughts of self love.
